Use the same checklist
Compare the same points in the same order. A short list can include size, seating, trunk space, comfort and the characteristics you identified as essential. Keep a “to verify” column for missing information.
Look at the specific vehicle
Two vehicles of the same model can differ by year, trim, equipment and history. Do not automatically apply the features of a general advertisement to the vehicle in front of you. Ask for documentation that corresponds to that vehicle.
Write down what you observed
“The trunk fits my stroller” is more useful than “it seems roomy.” “I can see the controls easily” is more specific than “the interior looks good.” Concrete observations will still make sense when you read them a few days later.
Keep written information
If a vehicle is offered for sale, ask for the details in writing and check outstanding questions with the seller. This website presents no prices, financing or vehicle offers. Your checklist helps organize information obtained elsewhere.
Take a step back
Return to your three essentials. An appealing vehicle may not suit how you drive; another may meet your needs with fewer compromises. The checklist helps reveal that difference without deciding for you.
